Split gear trany
I just noticed an f600 on craigs list with a 429ci and a 5spd trans. I'd that sething we could adapt to make an "economy"/overdrive??
I'm not totaly shure how z split trans shift patern works so if I'm totaly off please set me straight. Knoledge is power

Usually those are a 5 speed tranny with a 2 speed rearend. If you start in 1st gear low then you flip the switch and bump the clutch pedal to go to high, Then you shift into 2nd and at the same time flip the switch back to low. When at he proper rpm you flip the switch again to high. Then 3rd low and on and on.
An f600 rearend would be a bit large and probably geared too low for a 1/2 or 3/4 ton.

Well that's no good. I was hoping it was more along the lines of an overdrive unit on the tail housing like in a 4x4. Oh well.. I have a f350 I plan to ditch the dual D60 and throw in a D44 untill I can aford a 9inch
