Rad Support

Can a '73 - '79 rad support be modified to be used on a '67 - '72 application? I heard this somewhere but not sure tho..needing a low cost replacement rad support for a '69.

Corey, I have heard the same thing. The mount holes to the chassis rails are the same. A support will bolt to either year chassis.

Take a good look at your radiator, then measure the distance between the radiator supports mounting holes.

1967/72: There are TWO different radiator supports.

1973/79: There are THREE different radiator supports.

What's the difference? When the Super Cooling radiator is present, the radiator support has a much larger opening radius.

This means...if you do not have the Super Cooling radiator, and you install a Super Cooling radiator support, the mounting holes will not line up, and so...you will have to modify the mounting flanges on the radiator to fit.

ID'ing the 4 row Super Cooling radiator: It has a HUGE top tank, it's higher, wider and deeper than the other radiators.

right arm guys thanks for the reposnses looks like the 73-79 swap should be pretty simple. I don't mind drilling a few holes etc. I am just not that great with the welder yet.

Numberdummy - would you then suggest getting the radiator with the support?
