Squeek under dash driving me crazy!!!

I have a wierd squeekunder dash board that I would like to fix, it sounds like baby birds chirping or something, it's only on semi-smooth to bumpy roads it stops if I press gently on the brake pedal while I'm driving. It also stops when parked. I dont think it's the loose fender problem. Help!!

mine has a similar noise (sounds like a dry speedometer cable) I have never found it. I know it isn't the front fenders as the front clip has been changed due to accidents.

I have what sounds like yours (birds chirping). In my case it was the window (power) drivers side. For some reason when it happens it would go away when I rolled the window down a few inches and all the way back. Go figure, still does it. I'm just not in to tearing that panel apart this winter.

Don't discount tightening the fender bolts. I bet that is your crunch noise.

I think it's a fiberglass insert in there, not sure though as never had to tear the fender off. Maybe someone on this site has. If you just tighten them down another 1/2 to 1 turn the issue goes away. Mine were pretty snug but did get another turn on them. I agree with what you said earlier though, scares the heck out of you. I actually pulled over a couple times to see if something broke on the suspension.

Take off your right kickpanel and see if the bolt holding the dash, next to the glove box, to the door frame is broken off. Actually the plastic bracket breaks there. It's pretty common to be broken.

I had the same problem as you, I found that if I put my fingers in the small vent slot for the defroster and push down that i can make it go away. Sometimes after it goes away it is gone but others it comes back at the next slight bump. RRanch I hope that that is my problem to becuase this sound is going to send me to the mad house lol.

Look at that bracket. It's not a hard fix and there is a Ford fixit kit out there for it even. It's easier to make your own steel bracket though. Grind off the broken plastic on the dash side, rivet or bolt a plate down the side with at least three bolts and then weld a bracket to the bottom of it that alignes with the hole on the door frame. It sounds harder than it actually is.

Yea, this is broken on mine as well.

It doesn't squeek very often anymore.

I broke mine there last fall when I was trying to chase my cows home in the neighbors pasture. We hit a little washout and got airborne. Really airborn! I don't ever want to do that again. My poor kid was in the bed swinging his rope when the tires left the ground. He ended up almost on top of the cow.
