2008 Expedition EL Sound coming from drivers side dash mostly but occasionally passengers dash, sounds like a marble rolling about 3-4 inches. At first it was only when I turned left or right so I had the dash removed right down to the firewall, 8 hrs labor re and re, cleaned all tubes vents etc....no joy.....and then after reassembly not only do marbles "roll" left and right but now on start and stop.....driving me crazy...help?
Who tore the dash apart? There has to be something rolling around. Maybe a disgruntled factory worker. I have heard stories of marbles, metal chunks on strings that bang against metal when driving, etc.
I have a 2012 expedition and hear a marble on every turn near passenger side dash vent. No idea what if is but making me crazy!!! Help
Welcome to the forum, Nicholas! I've heard of losing your marbles before, but this sounds a bit different. Have you been to your dealership so they can check this out for you? I'd recommend that as a next step. How many miles are on your Expedition?
Crystal - 46000 miles I live near lawrenceville nj ford. I have not taken it there yet
Thanks for the fast reply, Nicholas. Once you've had your dealership diagnose this for you, I'll be able to look into ways to help. Keep me in the loop.
My guess would be that some sort of hard candy was accidentally poured down the vents in the middle of the windshield. When my car was about a month old, my nephew carried his box of $11 lemonheads out of Yankee Stadium, ran ahead and put them on the dash. It was like slow motion watching the box tip over and pour those candies down the vent. They rattled left and right for a few months then mysteriously stopped on their own. I don't like to think about it too much. If not candy, then it is probably marbles.

They said that type of work is not covered under Warranty. They said nothing wrong with the truck and most likely it is an object like a toy or crayon or something. They said it would take 3-4 hours of labor (uncovered) to identify it and several hundreds of dollars.
They suggest it is in the air vent box. I wish i knew if there was a way to access to box myself b/c this is driving me nuts
