I don't see how the math would be different for electric fans. If the same fan that is used on the engine is hooked up to an electric motor, it will take the same power to do the same work regardless of how it's powered.
The electric fans cited may work for empty trucks -- who knows. I swore they were closer to 50A though...

It should work for empty trucks but once you load them heavy, the equation changes. They are rated for 18K but the Ex is already 9000#, IIRC.

OK, so again, why not throw an electric lockup clutch from a big rig on the fan?
-Less modding than electric.
-Same available cooling when needed.
-Maybe cheaper?

No reason why you could not, other then there is not one offered for our trucks, but the benifit would not out weight the cost and hassle.
The 2-3hp you might pick up is not worth the $300-$400 to install something.

Apparently it is, thus the 500$ electric fan set.
At least this way, you still have full cooling ability when needed.

Mine feels like it has a little torque converter in it.
A clutch would be the best of both worlds, and probably an easier mod to do.
Its a viscous fluid clutch, which is similar to a t/c. Never fully unlocks or locks though. Kinda like the old c-6 trans with a non locking t/c.
