And even if you converted it to an electric fan, it is best to make it operate off of engine/coolant temps. A manual switch means you must ALWAYS watch the temp gauge or run the fan all the time....then there is no reason for a switch.
If you remove the stock fan and clutch and replace it with an electric fan don't work the truck hard. It will overheat. There is a reason no heavy duty truck uses an electric fan. That reason is they don't move enough air.
It is mechanical and what I wanted to do was to be able to turn the fan on just before a hill climb to keep the engine cool so it wouldn't have to work as hard to cool back down once it hit 210/215 degrees. I have not had any problems with it so it's kinda one of those things if it aint broke don't fix it. more or less I have a rocker switch that says engine fan and wanted another switch on the dash. thanks.

And even if you were able to rig something up you wouldn't see much of an improvement. Remember that your thermostat is going to restrict flow to your radiator to maintain temp, and that thermostat doesn't know the hill is coming. So turning on the fan early will cause the thermostat to close to hold engine temperature despite the increased airflow.
