Hey guys... I just got to thinking about lifting my truck, but are weighing the options of the different types. Really it comes down to the Rough Country lift, or the conversion from the F150 leaf springs to the F250 springs. About the ladder...
I was wondering how difficult this conversion would be for two very mechanically inclined guys to accomplish. We don't have a shop full of tools, but do have angle grinder, torch, and wrenches etc. Also, is there any build threads that go into detail on how to do it?? Thanks in advance for the replies!
FordGuy91...there's a fairly simple recipe: F-250 rear leaf springs without any lift blocks and aftermarket F-250/350 front springs. That combination will get you AROUND two inches of lift and be dang near dead level, from personal experience and reports from others. Three possible problems can occur, though. 1) if you have a 2WD, you'll need to swap the shackles and hangers to accomodate the 3" wide springs. 2) some (but not all) people have reported interference issues between the front spring and the lower ball joint nut. 3) it's very possible that you won't be able to have the truck optimally aligned.
And even if you have a modicum of mechanical inclination, you and your buddy shouldn't need a writeup to be able to pull this job off! It's pretty much self-explanatory once you get started.
hey now small 2x4 wood blocks work lol, seriously place them between the axle houseing and leaf U-bolt .. corse its getto but it totally works , you'll be suprised what a lil wood can do lol
I could, but I'm not putting my truck, and possibly my life in the makings of a 2x4 block of wood. Hit a big bump, block splits in half, who knows what could happen then...

Just fab your own blocks out of some good steel or somethin then
I did the f-250 leafs in the rear and the f-250 coils in the front on my 96 4x4--
got about 11/2 to 2in. ( didn't measure) lift and it sits dead level---I love it !!!
