Interesting, but I can't see that giving any benefit over just having the ramps tee into the road with traffic lights. Actually, that would be better since I bet with that design at least daily you'd end up with some idiot just going straight and wind up facing opposing traffic.
Take another look. The traffic flow is all merging in the direction of travel. The two crossovers are of course directed with barriers and curbs to prevent said idiots from entering oncoming traffic. The crossovers are in effect the same as a standard 4 way intersection.
Around here, people get confused with roundabouts - something like this would kill them lol...
gosh man i know!!! lol and they keep putting them up.. i actually have seen tire marks just driving over the top of them..lol.. and there is another one that the just put in and some one most have forgot and all you see is like 30 foot long squeel marks as they nailed the curb..lol some people...
They just built one on the North side of Springfield, and they are building another on the South side near the Hospital.
The first time I had to go through it, I was all confused. But it wasn't so bad.
So those are crossovers not interchanges? ... As long as they go over/under I see no need for lights at all ...
Nope--think of it as two 4-way intersections at the ramps, only turned 45º to both the interstate and the surface street. If you follow the link in the OP, there are computer-sim videos for various travel paths.
