Lower steering column cover
Hey guys. My 79 F150 is 2wd 408/c6. The plastic cover at the base of the steering column looks like an afterthought. I'm talking about the one that seals the column to the dash. My 73 is a 4spd and it has a nice metal one painted to match the dash. Did earlier trucks with a/t have a metal cover? Or has anyone come up with something trick to improve the looks?

Thanks for the info Mike! Looks like unless I get clever with some sheet metal, I'm stuck with the plastic. Almost makes me want to yank this column out. The other columns just look so much cleaner.
