Had a problem with my 02 7.3 X and it would not start... wouldn't even crank so The batteries seemed old and I replaced them, the starter was replaced and It ran fine for about a week and a half them the same ploblem occured. Its hard to believe that its the starter again or the batteries... any suggestions? Thinking the factory alarm may have something to do with it?
I take it you hear no clicking of the solenoid then? I believe there is a relay for the starter before the solenoid, you may want to try musical relays before throwing more parts at.
Loose or corroded battery cable connections.
Undercharged battery.
Worn or damaged starter relay.
Faulty starter motor ground circuit.
Loose or corroded starter motor connections.
Worn or damaged starter motor.
Umm let's see. Alternator. Take it out and have it checked.
Next, once the alternator is ok, then charge the batteries. Disconnect your battery ground wire. Wait 10 minutes with the hood open and no touching the doors or controls. Now hook up a multimeter in ampmeter mode to the battery ground wire and battery neg terminal. How many milliamps does it show?
