This is the FORD TRUCK ENTHUSIASTS web site, correct? So why is it every time I come here I am greeted by a chevy truck banner? Disturbed minds want to know.... .

Do a search on here and use "ads" as the keyword. You'll be able to entertain yourself for weeks. This has been discussed ad nauseum and basically it boils down to the fact that FTE has no control over the ads placed on there. Google controls it.
You basically have about four options:
1) You can just suck it up and live with it.
2) You can download Ad Blocker and use it which will eliminate some but not all ads.
3) You can become a supporter for about $20 a year and no longer see the ads.
4) You can go somewhere else instead of FTE.
Wait does this means Chevy pays to help keep F.T.E running? Thats fine with me but not a good money spending on them. Ford been putting food on the table for me for 17 years and thats not about to change any time soon because of some stupid add.
Chevy pays Google for ads. Google places them where they would tend to appeal to the broadest spectrum. Google doesn't specifically target Ford truck sites but rather sites where there tends to be a large base of truck owners / enthusiasts. If you consider that FTE has over 250,000 members and many more visitors, that's a pretty broad potential customer base so the ads get dropped on here. It's not only the Chevy ads, there are many others that have nothing to do with Ford.
Thanks powerstroke 72 for explaining that I really had no idea how they got on here unless GM paid for it. Makes sense how they post them and I bet other truck sites have the same thing going on with Ford ads too which isn't a issue with me.
No problem. I didn't like the ads so I got the membership over a year ago. It makes a huge difference because I see no ads at all and everything is much faster. It's also nice to be able to post with the guys and gals in the Club. Heck, for about $20 per year, it's hard to beat. It also give you more room in your PM inbox and outbox and some other perks. Worth it in my book.
Become a supporter and you won't see them anymore when logged in if it bothers you that much. two birds one stone. Support this website and don't have to look at an ugly chevy.
Hey don't feel so bad...how do you think Howie Long (the GM commercial bufoon) feels during the pre/half-time/post game shows on Fox, with that huge Ford logo on the front of the desk he's sittin' at?
the adds dont bother me, i was just wondering why a ford enthusiast web site would even let a add from another manufacturer be placed on the site. but if it pays for our site, its ok by me.
Well, I can tell you what I did. I joined the site as a member to test drive it, so to speak. After getting a lot of helpful information and deciding that I liked the site and the folks on it, I decided to become a supporter. It's $20 per year...give or take a penny or two. It's got it's advantages and no disadvantages that I know of other than the price of admission. Hang around a while and if you like the site and feel like getting the supporter membership, go for it. You won't see the ads anymore and all of the threads, etc. load a lot faster.
