I just moved down to SC but my business is in Cali.
You will know where I am by looking at my location on the right side of the post under the join date. Next week it should say CA if all goes well this week.LOL
Went up to the Valair shop today and shootin' the bull with Dan and discover he has "the stuff" so i can get yet ANOTHER clutch. haha. nothing wrong with the one i have, but what he has for me is going to be SICK!!! he is building me a dual disk that will be good for street driving and GREAT for drag racing!! if i can get the truck to hook i will be able to do some good 3rd gear launches and the price he gave me i will not be able to refuse. will be buying within the next month or so. haha. also discovered he is a shaeffers distributor so i guess i'm going to be getting him to ship me oil now too...
hell yeah shaeffers is good. i have seen several posts about them. they also provide you with free oil analysis if your using their oil. i will be trying out the shaeffers 7000 blend. the 5000 is good, but it gets cut to bad when running dual HPOPs where the 7000 does not so since i plan to run dual HPOPs i will be giving it a try.
Would 5000 be good for me Travis with my set-up? I've been thinking about switching to shaeffers, where can I get some? Is it better then Royal Purple? Is it also better then a spit in the eye with chewing tobacco? Oh, I'm sorry, I should have stayed on TOPIC, isn't that the rules in this thread? I can't read to good.
Glenn, you will like the 5000. the 5000 is 5w40 synthetic and the 7000 is 15w40 synthetic blend. shaeffers uses more moly than most oils do(good thing in this case). also Delo uses a lot of moly as well. i'm not sure that it's better than royal purple though. i give royal purple the benifit of the doubt that it's some good chit and we did see the 13hp improvment on the dyno with it switching from fresh delo to royal purple. the shaeffers is around $16 a gallon though where just the rotella synthetic is almost $20 a gallon now isn't it??? and no i don't think its as good as a spit in the eye as long as its not your eye. come on down and i will let you know on that one. haha
As Sam says Travis, you never know man because there ain't no rules. I wish my daughter still lived in Dallas, that way I could kill two birds with one eye, I mean stone!! In 98 I was running trains to Eagle Pass from San Antonio, the railroad was trying to capture the Mexico trade and needed people down there. They filled my pockets up so I went for six months. All joking aside, I thought the Texans went out of their way to be friendly, I loved it down there.
I started out in Wyoming, got sent to South Dakota, then back to Wyoming and ended up in Nebraska. Nebraska had the longest run and I finally had the years in to hold it (we got paid by the mile). Texas was the only job away from my regular area but was glad I went. I got to know a lot of good people and had some good times but its a horrible job because of the hours and being on call. The job of running those locomotives was fun at times, especially with the slaves (engines on the rear or mixed in the middle of the train).
