I haven't been around here in a little while, mostly because with so much help from this site my truck was exactly how I wanted it. Now its gone. I went out this morning to go to work and my beautiful truck is gone. I had an alarm on it, I had a club on the steering wheel and I put a wheel boot lock on the front tire every night before I go to bed. How do they get it out of my driveway without a sound with a wheel lock on it? It took me 7 years to get that truck to the point where it was. All set up for my camper, for my boat, for my family to do the things we love to do. Now I have to start all over. Damn thieves. I'm just so bummed. Just goes to show you I guess, if they want it they are going to get it. Definitely professionals. Its funny though, if they somehow got the wheel boot off, why wasn't it sitting in the driveway? If they didn't get it off how did they move the truck out of the driveway? I guess it doesn't matter, its gone now anyway. I bought that truck new, ordered it just the way I wanted it. It was a huge stretch financially, but we got it paid off in three years. It was more then a truck to us, it was our way of fun. Camping, boating, experiencing new places, Mexico, Lake Powell. I'm probably making too much of it. I just don't know how I'm going to get back to this place again. Its just a truck, right? RIP my old friend......... I'll miss you.
Man, here's another thread I never like hearing. Although its a long shot, don't give up hope yet, they might just find it without a ton of damage, good luck, sorry to hear.
With an alarm, a club and a boot it sure sounds like someone had to have a repo setup to pick it and move it without you knowing it. Not at all implying that was the case but few average car thieves have the dollies and lift to make all that happen... Sorry man, I'd be fired up big time and scouring the back alleys around town.
Wow, really sorry to hear about your truck! I know exactly how you feel my truck was stolen right off my driveway just a few months ago. Mine also had a Viper alarm system installed. The people that stole mine wrecked it before they got out of town and ended up dumping it, hopefully they find yours without much damage.
Sorry to hear that happened. Hopefully, you will get it back. I'm in ABQ as well. Paradise Hills area. Where did this happen? Our trucks seem to be very popular for the slimy thieves.
I'm in the NE heights, off Juan Tabo and Comanche. Damn thieves travel from all over town up to our area to steal our stuff. While the cop was standing in my kitchen he got two calls for other stolen vehicles in our area. I hate to say it but scouring the back alleys is a lost cause. We are 5 hours from Juarez Mexico and that is where my truck is headed.
Sorry to hear about your truck. Did you loose camper and all?
What we need is an "Americas Most Wanted" community involvement style sticky post so everyone (including thieves) out there know they (trucks) are been looked for. Or something.
Sorry, I'm rambling, just burns me up to hear that someone stole something from someone that earned it!! I "lost" my 1979 Cutlass Supreme Broughm to a nearsighted 14yr old speed happy delinquent. I fel your pain.
That sucks man, sorry to hear that, she was a beaut of a truck.
Im unfamiliar with a few things maybe you can or cant shed some light on.
Firstly, you must have some sort of coverage on your vehicle so it will get somewhat replaced, right?
Second, how the hell does a thief get a stolen truck across the border into Mexico? Ive never been down there before, but I thought they had the border pretty much closed up so people had a hard time getting through, let along a big truck?
I know there are a lot of people reading this thread and thinking that the alarm they have or the way they protect there truck is better. I can tell you this ANYTHING you put on your truck you are obviously able to get it off, locks are pretty easy to pick, alarms are hardly even paid attention to by anyone. So I will tell you what does work. Around here in Chicago we had a bad rash of tow truck thieves in the area they were taking them right off of the dealership lots and right out of garages if they knew where they were. A couple of us looked into GPS tracking, after almost a year I was ready to cancel my service when it happened , my buddys truck was stolen he found out after it had been gone for 4 hours, called the police and the service, truck was recovered in less then 10 hours, no damage other than the ignition.
Even being so close to Mexico if it can get a signal to report its position you can recover it. I know this does not help this situation but it might get some of you thinking about how to prevent it from happening to you.
