+1 for LoJack... I don't know how much it costs but I have seen how rewarding a recovery is using it. Nothing like the bad guys leaving a trail of bread crumbs right to where they think they've done a good job hiding.
It is insured, but you know how that goes. I'll fight with the insurance company to get as much as I can for it. As far as driving it across the border IN to Mexico. Their border patrol is not like ours. They let anything drive in, its coming back in to the US that is tough.
My guess is that they had to have a big enough rig to lift the axle that that the boot on the wheel... sounds like they knew what they were doing for sure. Here's to hoping for the best and that you get your truck back. I would be devastated too, and I've only had my POS for not quite 2 years now.
Sad to hear of this happening again. It does seem like it is more common in the southwest. Guess you needed a big log chain between the truck and the house. You did everything else. I do like Rick's idea.... That GPS tracking might be something worth while in your area. Wonder if the insurance company would give a discount if you have one of those?
Man that sux! I know what you mean about using the truck as the foundation to other activities. I have a camper and a trail rig too. It's the truck that allows us to "get out there" and do and see the things we like! I hope somehow things work out for you.
Horrible news and I hope the people that did this get what they have coming to them. I wonder if there is an alarm system with battery backup (incase they cut the battery cables) that will go off if the vehicle starts to MOVE at all. Then we can start catching these SOB's in the process and take care of business.
I'm not kidding, they must have been watching my truck for a long time. When I take the camper off I always park the hood of the truck under the overhang of the front of the camper so they can't get in to the engine compartment even if they pop the hood. Over the holiday I moved things around because I was getting ready to take my boat to the shop, so I had the boat in front of the camper instead of the other way around and was not able to park the front of the truck under the camper like I normally do.

I would love to be a part of that group. I know how much work, time and $$ I have put into my truck and other than the tuner, it is all stock. Hanging is too good for em. Drag em through the desert.

Maybe ask the neighbors if they've seen anything suspicious going on? Sounds like the scum bags definitely had your number
Unfortunately the Super Dutys are the most favored by smugglers crossing the border as these pickups put up with the rough terrain better than the others.
Lots have been stolen only to be found a few days or weeks later being used by a Coyote or a smuggler wanting to haul a$$ across the desert.
I think someone even posted a link to a news article about this some time ago.

LoJack is good but there has to be an outfitted police vehicle with the LoJack recovery system in it, in a close approxicimity of the stolen vehicle in order for the police to locate it. It works good trust me I have recovered stolens. It works approximately 1/4 mile I would say and then tells the officer which direction to go. It works pretty good if the equipped patrol car is in the area.
I do know that living in the area of the border sucks. Easy acess no one to stop them either.
I have had one truck totally stolen, never found, and then I bought my 7.3 and two weeks later some schuch tried stealing it. Luckily I had just put on a "Ravelco" anti theft device on it and they couldn't start it.
I know that if they want it like they did yours they are going to get. How ever, in my opinion they more than likely didn't get to far down the road before they stopped and started the truck and drove away.
The club is very easy to defeat, most of the alarms are really easy to by pass. The "Ravelco" took three hours to install, I watched him install it. It would take that long to by pass it. (seriously). Like I said though if they want it they are going to get it. Somebody was watching your truck and saw a chance and took it. Sorry to hear of your loss. I know your pain. Have faith hopefully they find it.
I am sorry for your loss. The only way I could think of that they could do this quietly, would be to get all 4 corners up on dollies and push it down the street to a tow truck. the tow truck would lift the front, and someone would disconnect the driveshaft, so it could be towed away. I am not sure how far away from your bedroom the truck was parked, but I know a tow truck could not get near mine without waking up me or my neighbors. Bastages.
