05 trans. problems!!

Now besides coolant probs i was coming home tonight and at 45mph rpms rev way up and i have no trans. I roll out of the throttle and it hooks up and away I go. Did this twice both while just gradually accelerating. Felt like i put it in neutral!! Soo is tranny giving up its ghost too? truck has 95,000 miles.

Low trans fluid could do this, too.

Right on the trans fluid has not been changed for 55,000 miles!! Shame on me but I can't believe that the fluid would be broken down that much that it would take out the tranny. Obviously I'm wrong!!! With the freq. 30,000 mile fluid change I still question weather this truck would make it 200,000 I could see it if a guy was towing 90% of the time !! Well I'll find out the damage Monday!! Still haven't been able to get it to slip again though!!!!!! Thanks for the input!!

You don't have to towing 90% of the time(I do though and mine stays within spec of normal tranny temps despite having a modified TC), if you are running a "programmer", that can throw things off as well.

No offense but the owners manual does not state anywhere that if you are not towing you can disregard the service intervals on anything. Even the coolant and oil changes gives a time frame vrs. mileage. These are heavy duty complicated machines now and the fluids are very critical. Hopefully you just have a varnished or sticking solenoid. Good Luck.

That's true and I don't think that they actually put a different changing schedule for tranny fluid like they did for engine oil(regular service v. severe service) for those that run in more severe applications then others.

First - I am sorry you are having problems!

As a side note, let me say "THANK YOU" for owning up to the truth on your fluid change interval. It may or may not have been a major contributor, but what is so refreshing is that you had no problem stating the facts.

So many people on these forums will not own up to what they are doing. This makes it VERY HARD to learn what is necessary and what is not on these trucks!

Good luck and I hope it is something cheap and simple!
