460 headers for a 77 highboy

460 headers for a 77 highboy

Just dropped a brand new 460 into my highboy, and the headers I bought dont seen to want to fit. The drivers side tucks in close to the engine, and fits like a glove, but the passenger sidesticks out from the engine and seems to sit right where the fram rail is. inless I am missing something They dont look like they fit. strange thing is the guy I bought them from said they came off his f250 4x4.

What is a header that fits the highboy with a 460? anything I might be able to get locally (pep boys, autozone, etc)? I wanna get this beast running this weekend!

anybody got any part numbers?

try L&L headers. they make headers for the 460 4x4 swap, as well as motor mounts, and complete 460 swap kits. you wont find a part number in a parts store catolog for headers on a 460 in a 4x4 3/4 ton dent side truck, because these trucks did not come stock with a 460. the headers you bought could be from a 78-79 4x4,that is a different frame, than a 67-early 77 3/4 ton frame. that could be why they dont fit your truck.

Seems like the frame has to be trimmed on the passenger side even with the LnL headers. This is not something I've done but seems like I remember reading, surely there some on here that has done it. It could have been the manifolds that had to have a little frame trimming done.

A set of "fender well exit" headers are always an option too.

F these gd, sob, pos, mf, headers.

ahhh. now that i got that off my chest I will tend to my wounds. Smashed my finger, hammer myself in the kneecap with a long jack handle I was using as a strong arm, almost neutered myself when my foot slipped off the pushbar. all to find out hat these headers will positively not work.

On go the stock manifolds.

on with th build.

What brand are they? Can you find out if they came off a 78 or 79? If you can't use them maybe you'll want to sale them? Might be interested in them.

I used a set of chassis exit headers from L&L on my 77 highboy with a 460 and they fit great with no modification. The L&L chassis and fenderwell exit headers are the only ones I know of that actually fit this swap in the highboys. Problem is, other companies advertise for 77 F250, but actually they only fit the later 77s, 78/79 F250s and not the highboys.
