77 highboy 400 headers?

'77 was the highboy/lowboy split, the '77.5-'79 headers will not fit.
The '67-'76 highboys were all FE's (or 300 6's).
The '77 highboy is sort of the odd man out with the 351/400 and only a six month production run.

I suppose anything's possible, i never attempted it my myself so i can't say with any degree of certainty.
All the highboys i've owned have always been FE's so i've never had to deal with this issue, i would think headers are available for the '77 but a quick search came up empty.

There is little to no info searching this topic. I had the same delima.
Hedman #89360 is what I ordered for my 77 highboy. It may be a month or so before I get mine on and can tell how the fitment will be. Sorry, I'm not much help right now, but I'll let you know how mine fit if you'd like.

I'd be interested in what you find out, i noticed the Flowtechs specifically state "will not fit the lowboy", but yet the Hedmans omit that statement entirely.
The two headers look nearly identical to me, so i don't know if it's just an oversight on Hedmans part or if they actually fit the '77 highboy.

I have a 77 Highboy with a 400 running long tubes on it. They are non-fender well exit so the collectors are in the normal spot between the frame and transmission. I didn't put them on so I have no information on manufacturer or model number, but when I am outside working on my truck today i will see if I can find any kind of identifying marks on them for you to help you in your quest.

Please keep me posted 77hyboy with those headers. I called german today they said that none of there headers would fit. But with a little skill and modification any thing is possible. What are the headers off the crew cab?

Will do! Worst comes to worse I can get em fab'd to fit. Waiting on heads to return from the machine shop.

It would be much appreciated. Another thing I was wondering is if you guys think that this is a high boy. I believe it is but the guy I bought it from said it want. Its a 77 model with a 12/76 production date has a 400 with a fmx trans divorced np203 rear frame rails measure 27 1/2 inches and rear leads are 2 3/4" wide his reason for it not being one was cause the serial numb is 71,6xx can't remember the last 2 off hand. Now some say anything after 20,000 isn't and some say after 80,000. So what are your opinions

A '77 highboy will have a production date before 3/77 and a serial number earlier than Y20,001.
But cab and/or door swaps can render those numbers meaningless, you may still be sitting on a highboy chassis.
Highboy frames are 33.5" wide in the rear (measured from outside to outside).
Highboy rear springs are 2.25" wide.

Your correct. I meant 2 1/4 rear leafs and I measured the frame rails inside so thats right.
vin matches title and everything. Who knows ha as long a its a high boy frame thats all that matters to me. Thanks
