I've built a stroker for my 77 F250 4X4 highboy ( yes I'm sure it's a highboy) ,started with a 460 block. we used a scat 521 stroker kit, trick flow aluminum heads, roller hydraulic cam. we stayed around 10:1 compression for drivability and fuel problems.. I'm getting ready to pull the old 351 M out and start the install. I've been researching headers for a while now and I know most guys lean towards L&L, mad dog.. My question is...what is available in a ceramic coated, 17/8 primary ,good fitting chassis header ? (I don.t think I want the fenderwell exit type )
My truck has 2 inch suspension lift and no body lift.I appreciate any help and look forward to hearing from guys that have experience with this combo or built an engine like this, installed in a 77 4X4 highboy
my 460 is being overhauled,,Im going with l&l and having them ceramic coated,,,Im leaning towards fenderwell exits so not so conjested inside the frame,,,Its a shame l&l coating vender went out of business,,oh well 75 hb
I don't know but I got an original 460 from a Lincoln mark 3 so it has the better compression and is unmolested so I can do as I wish. Mild build I'm doing but that's all. But I am waiting to hear from a local guy from a friend who builds big blocks. I'll see if he knows and would be willing to shed some light.
I bought the chassis exit for mine with L&L and fit well. I have been able to take them on and off if needed after everything is installed, plenty of room. Have them coated is your best bet. I am happy. Sounds like we have the same truck. I had trickflow heads on my 521 and with the piston setup I had, the CR was 10.5:1. I ran e85 for awhile and didn't like the cold start issue so went back to a edelbrock head and now I am about 9.5:1 and using pump fuel. I hated to lose than 1 pt compression ratio, because I lost some HP and I could tell. Oh well.
I can send you some pics of my headers if you like.

I would appreciate a couple pics. How do you like the 521? great power? Great torque? are you running a roller camshaft? what are you running for a carb?...thanks for the info
