Great Mercon V it is. Now I have another question. I am also going to flush/exchange fluid in the power steering system. There was a link for this procedure. However, when I click the link the following pops up:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /power_steering_flush.php on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Do you have a new link, another link or maybe the procedure itself to pass on?

Just another thought without opening a new thread. I believe Ford recommends trans service at 15,000 miles using Mercon III. Now that Mercon V is being used, can this interval be increased and if so, by how many miles?

I believe the service recommendation from Ford is 30k. There was never a Mercon III made, only Mercon and Mercon V. You can now use Mercon V in our 4r100 trans now.

I stand corrected it's Mercon. I thought I read somewhere that it was 15,000 mile interval on the trans service. That's the number that comes to mind. I have had blackstone performing the oil analysis on the trans oil after taking it up the ***** from AAMCO just as bad as the stealerships.
Anyway, it has taken 3 trans oil/filter changes and the readings have really improved, along with how this trans is working. I now have 231,000 on it and it's only needed to be serviced.
