4R100 fluid

Hi all. Hope the Xmass break was good for all. Im back from my Hols and its back to business. Waiting for my JW VB to turn up and Im looking at oil. Will this drop do ??

Not sure I understand what all that file is? Any Mercon V tranny fluid will do... Brian are you wanting to use synthic oil in your tranny?

Hey Joe. Its supposed to be a link to Castrol TQ DIII. But it aint workn. If you copy it and paste it in the web browser it will work. Its a mineral Oil.

Brain dont use this type of fluid! It says that in the first paragraph. This is for use in the earlier model Ford or GM trannys. IDK what it will do if you use this stuff, but i dont want to be around to see it!!! Look under Tech Guides at the top of the page on FTE...there is a great write up on how to service your tranny! Just use Mercon V in your Tranny and you cant go wrong with conventional or synthtic oils...that is your choice myfriend.

That fluid will work for the 4R100. It was the original fluid in the trans. It has been replaced by MERCON V which is a better fluid. I recommend using MERCON V if you can find it down under.

Like said above, the 4R100 calls for a MERCON ATF spec Fluid, After July 1, 2007, MERCON Automatic Transmission Fluid was no longer manufactured. MERCON V can be used in vehicles that require either MERCON® V or MERCON® type fluid.

Here are some additional options if they are available:

1. MERCON® V Automatic Transmission and Power Steering Fluid

2. Motorcraft's Synthetic Blend MERCON® V Automatic Transmission

If you tow alot or race I would go with a full synthetic since it can handle the higher temps better.

3. Schaeffer's 204SAT Synthetic Transmission fluid - what BTS uses in all their transmissions. Might not be available or cost prohibitive.

Schaeffer's ALL-Trans Supreme Transmission Fluid for Dexron III and Mercon fluids

4. Amsoil Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid

MERCON V is available (at least in the US) as mineral, blend, or full synthetic. If you can't get MERCON V down under MERCON is fine. I also is available (at least in the US) as mineral, blend, or full synthetic.

Well my local Ford dealer stocks Motocraft MerconV in quart bottles only. You talk about being expensive. Here one quart cost $ 20.50 x 18 qts lol, forget it.

Dang, Brian. You need to move to the States. That's ridiculous! I recently bought Mobil 1 Full Syn for ~$7/qt.
