Hi,
Just found this site, lot's of information. I have a 1999 7.3 with 260,000 miles bought new. The only thing I have changed is the water pump, so everything is from the factory.
Started truck let it warm up, drove about a quarter of a mile and it died. Service engine light came on before it died. Tried to restart, WTS light did not come on. Checked fuses visually and with a light, #30 was blown,
still no WTS.
I have not had the CPS changed.
Where do I start?
The blown #30 fuse normally means the fuel heater in the filter housing is shorted. You can unplug the heater and replace the fuseshould be good to go.
The fuse also controls the injector driver module IDM
As Ray said, it's probably your fuel bowl heater shorted, reach around the back of the fuel filter housing and disconnect it. I will be located 1/2 down the back of the filter housing more toward the driver side. Then replace the blown #30, and you'll be off.
Yep I did, thought about that after I sent that reply. Thanks
What do I need to do with wire to the fuel heater? Just tape it or do I need to search for the short?
Thanks Ray I am in Florida just north of Panama City. High today was 34 and supposed to get down to 18 tonite. I'll just plug it up. Thanks again for the help.

Welcome to FTE Dusty. Just leave the fuel bowl heater unplugged. Don't let the heater part fool you, you don't need it. There are guys up North who have theirs unplugged with no problems. There's no heater in your tank, so the little bit of fuel in the bowl won't make a difference if it gets a heater.
