Engine Heater wattage
Can someone please tell me what the wattage of the block heater is...Just got a power bill, for the garage and it's outrageous...
I don't think they read the meter correctly...but I would like to know the size of the heater so that I can discuss the bill with the power company.
Cheers

If you keep it plugged in all the time I'd recommend getting an oil pan heater instead of using the block heater. A 250-300W will keep that engine warm enough that starting it will not be an issue.

Timer FTW. 1000W makes the math easy (= 1kW). Presuming a utility rate 12 cents / kWh (that's what I'm paying), a full day would cost $0.12 * 24, = $2.88 . Three hours on a timer costs $0.36 . A $10 timer will pay for itself in about four days.
