I have a walk behind snow blower that has a 120 volt electric start and a 12 volt headlight. My questions is where does the headlight get the 12 volts from? Does is come from the 120v starter or is there a separate source somewhere within the engine shroud?
The engine's magneto has a separate lighting coil that generates electricity for the light, or it has a separate stator to generate electricity for the light. The bulb is also most likely a 6v bulb, rather a 12v.
Yeah, you have a little stator either external to the flywheel or under the flywheel (since it is probably a Tecumseh Sno-King engine).
Hey, Kal!!!!
Speaking of Sno-King engines, since Tecumseh has gone out of business, where can I get a carb (preferably new) that has the adjustable idle/running jets???
I bought a 'new style' (non-adjustable) a while back, and it's a POS. (Sorry.)
ETA: The Briggs & Stratton engine on my new (figuratively speaking) snowblower has a 'lead' that is 12v. Nice to have 12v available!

As far as I know, the Tecumseh parts pipeline is still flowing. I recently got an updated Tecumseh parts Cd.
Give me the numbers (just the "spec" number will do) off your engine and I should be able to find you an adjustable carb part number. Then you can price it out.

Thanks, Kal!
There is (correction, WAS) a small engine repair shop near me, but, they closed up shop.
I took the manual w/part #s with me, and they handed me that 'non-adjustable' carb, saying that it was the replacement.
One guy said that the 'old style' carbs weren't available, any longer. (????)
That's basically why I asked.
I'll look up the info tonight, IF I can remember it!
