This really helped out the truck. Found the hose going to the MAP sensor was cracked in half. So along with not having low end boost I'm sure the sensor not reading very much pressure played a part in how the truck was running.
The boost is quick spooling even with the van turbo and smoke is not nearly as bad as before.
So for those of us not wanting to mess with a boost detector, tell us where on the MAP hose you had your issue. These things become pretty easy to check for if you know where to look.
I had a tear where the hose connects to the map sensor barb, right under the clamp. At first glance it looked fine and the hose appeared to be in good condition but it was torn half way through the hose.
