I "push" or recomend what I have run and like... Something others do not...
If the TN BB was still avaliable I would recomend it over the 38r...
That is why I wasn't going for the H2E. I like the 38R, especially since he already has it. I think it is a great turbo with or without the 1.15. But after riding in and driving Gordon's truck, the GT-42 is the s&*t. Very quiet, spooled fast with his hybrids, almost dead nuts 1 to 1 on boost to back pressure. He can run that turbo from where he is at 490ish to 600+ if he wants to. That Skav guy on PSN has had all three turbo's on his, the latest is the GT42 and he loves it. I think that is coming from an H2E... Then hearing how great Greg likes his... and his is a journal bearing. I just think that it is a better platform to grow without ever having to change the turbo again... Only problem with it is... it isn't a great size for TWINS...LOL
A modded H2e can do everything a GT42 can do, and do it cheaper...
I didn't think the modded H2E was good for 600+? I guess at that point who really cares. But I don't think it is cheaper. 1000 bucks for a 42, 4-500 bucks in materials for a turbo kit... Just to mod an H2E is a 1000 bucks?? So I am thinking NO.. LOL
I ended up ordering a QSSB on a hypermax kit for our early 99. With 160cc AC's Im figuring it to work out very well. Hypermax kit showed today, hope to have the turbo next week.

I have about $1800 into my setup TOTAL including the turbo and mount, V-band flanges, T304 stainless bellowed up pipes with Vbands, new downpipe, oil lines etc..
Ok, so I can sell my turbo for basically what I paid for it... I can buy my H2E complete kit for 2000, what would I need to do to put this other turbo on? Hey Steve, maybe you can give me a call and we can discuss?

So, for a guy (me) that doesn't want to go for big hp (350 to me would be plenty) it sounds like a 38r would be a better option. H2E, GT42, etc. are all for building higher HP trucks, yes? I'm looking for streetable power that won't need headstuds etc. Just trying to clarify for those of us not in the HP race. Thanks!!
old thread i know........but couldnt this kind if power be obtained without changing the turbo?
