How do u figure it is Lame that he works for a Diesel Performance parts business? What is it with you? Instead of complaining about taking a pay cut, why dont u go do some business of your own or work for someone else so we can call that lame. Dude, enough is enough.

I dont think its lame that he works for one... Wish I did.

What I think is lame is rather then just come out and say "the H2e runs a T4i flange and the others are a T4" he trys to play a game with me to start something...

You know it as well as he does.

I just dont put up with any BS... He tried the samething elsewhere and got no where.

Is it true that the stock H2E actually has less airflow than the 38R?
I was told that with Stage III Hybrids and a 38R, the 38R is limiting my ability to use the full potential of the hybrids?

I have my brand new 38R sold with brand new up-pipes etc... and was planning on getting an H2E, but now I am undecided again.

I understand that the H2E kit comes with a new mounting plate, a bunch of piping and new up-pipe setup. Is it true that it reduces your exhaust downpipe from 4 to 3"?
I just bought new stainless exhaust which included a 4" downpipe, and this turbo 'UPGRADE' will make me downsize again?

Would You sell your 38R and "Upgrade" to the H2E? Or would you stick with the 38R?

I have Stage III Hybrids and am building a motor to take whatever I want to throw at it, so what would you do?

Last but not least, do I need to worry about my 6Spd Standard tranny taking this kind of power? I do have the clutch to take it now...

Thanks for any input you guys can provide... I just want to make the right decisions here...

John,
Honestly you got to figure out where you want to be? Are you going with a fully built motor down the road. These kits are not that hard to make... If your going to make something go with a GT42.... You might have to come down to Marks again...

Fully built motor, I my Rods are @ UPS and head gaskets are here... Other parts are coming from Clay. I have my 38R w/up-pipes sold to a buddy with a spare set of manifolds I have here. I have a good deal arranged with Hypermax on a non-modded H2E, I spoke with Jody today, he figures I should be able to make around 500hp with a stock H2E and the rest of my setup... Sound about right to all of you guys?
He also said that the H2E is no where near as loud as the 38R, which for a while was cool, however got to be quite annoying on the highway. If I was to keep the 38R, I would still have to throat another $300+ at it to get the new housing etc... So, being that I am getting a good price for my parts, I might as well take this opportunity to buy a turbo I can send away to be modified at some point down the road. (If I choose).

I also want to say, that Ron @ Hypermax is "The Man". He is extremely knowledgable, patient and outgoing... If you ever need a good price and good service, call and speak to Ron, he will get you sorted out... (That man neads a metal for putting up with me).

You will love the H2e... It spools good, is tough as hell, quite, no surge, stall or shift spikes...

Its just a smoooooth turbo to work with.

John you can make 500 with the turbo you got... I would stick with it and change it out down the road. I hope you are getting a good deal, cause those kits are real expensive... Then your going to have to mod it down the road... that is some more $$... The H2E is a great turbo, but for that price I wouldn't do it.

While your motor is out, stick some good sound deadening on the fire wall and in the truck. You will hardly even know it is there...

Having ran both the 38r with a 1.00 housing, 38r with a 1.15 housing, Modded H2e with 17cm and a Modded H2e with a 19cm housing...

I prefer the H2e with the 19cm for hybrids in the 230-250 range...

That is cool. But he could sell his 38R and up pipes for as much as he could get a journal bearing GT42 and make a kit. Then it wouldn't cost him anything...

I agree Steven! Gregs 42R is an awesome turbo.

Man, you guys make it difficult to make a decision... I need to make some choices... I am getting the H2E kit, complete for $2060, and selling my 38R which we all know is basically brand new for $2000 including new bellowed up-pipes (pretty much what I paid for it). My only disappiontment at this time is that I have to give up my 4" Stainless Steel downpipe for an aluminized steel 3-1/2 downpipe and then convert it to my 4" exhaust.
Suggestions?

Whos making kits? I was going to start making them, but no time and not enough work to make it a full time gig its just not going to happen. Anyone with a welder and a few hours can make one...

As I said... You will love the H2e... Once you step up to 250 hybrids or bigger then send it to Beans and get it modded...

Is that price with turbo? What does it cost to get the H2E modded?

You could do a GT42 (journal bearing same as Gregs) for less then 2k if you have some basic welding skills and use your rodded motor to mock up a kit!!

You sure scored on selling your turbo and up pipes. That works.
