Even that one doesn't beat the one where that same guy sued the RV maker and won something like 5 million dollars because the owner's manual didn't specify that cruise control was not auto pilot......
I guess the argument of which is better could go on forever, but the answer is that there is no transmission that is perfect for everything.
Reality here is that Ford killed the Manual on the TWO WHEEL DRIVE models. I think it is in the body builders guide - I read it over and over, and it seems that most of the people that read it didn't pick up on this.
Not a surprise - I had a dealer tell me this happened two years ago. Went to a knowledgeable dealer, and dispelled that myth quickly.
OH, you mean this has been discussed more than 20 times before ?!!??!?!?!
but surely we all know that the right oil will make an auto out perform a manual every time !
Right along with the diesel v. gas threads. I would hate to see how it turns out when it becomes an automatic diesel v. manual gasser thread. Imagine how long that one would rage on.
That depends on which GCWR you are talking about. The GCWR from Ford is nothing but a recommendation, but there is an actual legal Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating.
Though my 6.0 '04 F-350 4X4 is something I, guess, I have not gotten use to. The peak horse power is way up in the rpm range and I have a tough time going up there at a stop to get the power. And you really need the power when you have a F-350 loaded with lumber and other construction equipment. Especially on a hill.
But my current 6.0 F-350 4X4 is a dog from a stop. Unless you take the engine up into the power band, of course.
.
What I am saying is that to use a turbo well you need the rpms to get into the power band. An auto tranny is set up to go right to them. One does not really notice it if all you have to do is put your foot down. But when you have to work the clutch you have to be aware of the rpms and where you are putting the engine. And, for me, taking to the top of the rpms is uncomfortable.
So, I can see the manual going the way of the Doe-Doe bird in an effort to use the turbo charged engines as they should be. Up in the higher rpms. (Well, high rpms for a diesel, at least.)
Is your 6.0 a manual tranny? If so, why are you having to work the clutch and struggle to pull out from a stop?? Have you tried using the gear labeled L?? I have no problem pulling out on a hill from a stop with 15k lbs on either my 5.4 or 7.3 when I use L.
