I cant find a steering wheel cover for my 75 f-100. They are all for 14.5 to 15.5 steering wheels. Are there any places that produce them for the larger steering wheels, as I cant find any at any parts store around? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just went through this problem not long ago. LMC can fix you right up with a steering wheel cover that will fit your truck. I went with their black slip on one.
There ARE covers availible. Take a tape measure into the store with you. OR call ahead & ask for the size & style you want = saves gas and asprin usage.
I found a local store that sells the old style of wheel cover. Where you put the cover on then wrap the twine around it to hold it into place. I believe there was black, tan, and blue. They fit 16-18 inch steering wheel. The brand is Axius. Here's a web on the box www.auto-expressions.net It doesn't show your cover but it gives a phone # to reach them. The part # on the blue one is 3831112
Yep, that is the style I got for mine. I wanted the old school wrap around type. They used to make one that was more of a tan leather look, which is what I thought I was getting when I ordered the tan one. But it has grown on me, and matches the creme dash pad, and the door panels, and Explorer stripes on it, so it's all good!!
PS: I just recently saw those at Pep Boys too, just got to be careful, you don't grab the smaller one.
I just picked up a pleather one at Big Lots. Black and pliable but fits 15.5. It was cheap so I am going to warm it up in the oven and slip it on the cold wheel today. If it works I will post some pics.
Thanks guys. When I figure out how to do it I will post a picture of my new old truck. For me, this is better than owning a new ford truck. I love being able to fix it up on my own, maintain it without needing computers, sensors and everything else that breaks down and costs a small fortune to fix. Plus the 73-79 trucks are the best looking, toughest trucks ever built. Ive always loved them since my uncle owned one when it was new in 79, and when I saw Travolta driving the black 4X4 in urban cowboy.
I feel like I'm 16 years old again and when the only thing you thing of is women and cars. I'm 41 so maybe this is my midlife crisis? I feel like I have waited my whole life for this truck. I have loved fords period and nothing else, but due one thing or another I have always had a broke down chevy. Remember C H E V R O L E T means Cracked Heads..... Every Valve Rattles......
