a/c question

I don't know the name of the line but it's the one that connects to the the a/c compressor and goes around the backside of the engine. my problem is that the rubber outside blew exposing the braided line inside. my a/c doesn't work don't have freon in the system. the compressor isn't even hooked up. what i want to know is if none of this works do i need to replace it?

Not unless you want the A/C to work. But by the sounds of it you'll need more than just that one hose. Lol

You need a new hose. It's usually referred to as the discharge and suction line. No sense trying to charge it with a bad hose like that. Since the system has probably been open to the atmosphere for a long period of time you will at least need a new accumulator, orifice tube as well as that hose. Add in a complete flush. Inspect the liquid line for signs of distress too.

yeah there's no way this a/c will ever work again. i just wanted to make sure that the hose didn't have another purpose that the truck needed it for.
