a/c compressor bypass

The bearings are going out on my 92 F150, 302. Is there a way to bypass the a/c compressor, maybe by using a shorter belt? I don't have the cash to replace the compressor right now. Thanks!

I know they make an a/c eliminator bracket for your truck it's about $50 at your local ford dealer and you will also have to buy a smaller belt.

No doubt you could use a shorter belt as long as everything else will still run in the right direction

I got rid of my A/C compressor for the same reason and bought a bracket from ford that is a direct bolt on and I still use the same belt. Around $38

'92 F150 XL 4x4, 5.0L AOD, Headers, K&N Air Filter, 3.55 Gears, 31x10.5x15 Tires.

Hmm. Could I leave the A/C in there and just use a shorter belt? Might save some friction in winter. Or is the little friction in the A/C clutch not worth the hassle?
