What do you call the little plastic tube bushing that goes around the door post stud that your door latches onto? The plastic bushing decided to develope legs and walked off yesterday, now my door rattles!! Thanks
The plastic pieces aren't available separately. The original p/n is D2AZ-6522008-A. Plate, door latch striker. This fits 73-79 either right or left door.
You can also get the complete piece from the parts store. Look in the "help" section, they usually have them there.
Years and years ago I took mine apart and replaced the plastic tube with bronze oil-lite bearings that I'd re-sized to work.
$18 or even $13 for basically just a new plastic tube? LOL
Blame Ford for that, they made the puppy as a one piece assembly so potential customers (except for a certain signal ape ) had to buy the whole tamale.
I'll post pics later, but a piece of 1/2" pex water pipe works perfectly. I just cut to length then cut a slit so I could slide it on the post. I don't drive my truck every day, or sometimes even every week, but they've been on there for months and last time I looked at them they looked like they did when I put them on.
I'm a plumber so that was a natural solution for me, but if you aren't or don't know one, you can probably buy a foot of pex for a couple of bucks or less at lowes or home depot.
Yeah it's a cool one alright. :)
Tell 'em what you want and need it for and the guy at your
local hardware store will give it to you free, I'd bet. LOL :)
If it's the right size, it might work to take it apart like I did?
