Headlight Puzzle Palace

Looking to get a little advice on replacing the headlights. It almost looks like all the lights need to come out as a unit? Thought the perimeter trim plate would come right off and it would be a snap but no. Seems to be holding by the fender and I can't see where it's attached. I know the cab won't have to come off but I'm thinking maybe the fender lol.

Can't you reach down between the batteries and the radiator support to change those?

From my repair manual on CD. It is for a 96 but i think the 94 is the same. Headlamp Assembly
Removal

Remove radiator air deflector from radiator support.

Remove two screws and two nuts retaining headlamp door (13064).

Pull headlamp door from vehicle. Remove three bulbs and sockets.

Disconnect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) from headlamp bulb (13007).

Remove two retainers attaching upper two attachments of headlamp (13008).

Turn horizontal headlamp adjusting screw (13032) completely out of the adjusting nut.

Pull headlamp from vehicle.

Installation

Follow removal procedures in reverse order.

Tighten screws to 1.4-2.3 Nm (13-20 lb-in). Tighten nuts to 4-7 Nm (36-61 lb-in).

Check headlamp aim. Refer to Headlamp in the Adjustments portion of this section.

There are 2 screws on the top and 2 nuts under the battery for the cover...... the rest you may need to follow the above info.

That's what I thought too. I'm overlooking or can't see something, gotta love the engineers justifying their bloated paychecks. I picked up the blow up from a dealership and will have another go at her when time permits. BTW, is there somewhere on this site where I could put a scan of the blow up for someone elses future benefit?

Thanks for that farmert. Not sure what the headlamp door is unless it's what I called the trim plate. Is the CD you have the Ford shop manual? I regret not negotiating the manual into the deal when I bought this.

That's probably what's holding it, thanks.

Headlight door is the trim piece.
Pete does have the shop manual CD.

The shop manual CD's can be found on eBay from time to time.
You just have to watch since the specific models offered are not always the same.

Yes the CD I have is the factory one covers all Ford vehicles 96 threw 99 Except the 99 superduty. I got it on EBay. The 2 nuts that hold the headlight door on (trim piece) Are recessed so you can not see them. If you are just replacing the bulb you should just be able to reach the retaining rig on the bulb with out remooving the entire assembly.
