Alright. I was trying to take my driver side front fender off. I got all the bolts out except the ones behind the headlight. I looked in my 2002 ford shop manual and it says release the two clips. Well I pushed, pulled, twisted, etc and they would NOT come loose. How the heck do those release? I ended up breaking both of them off. Then I could not get the lower one to release, come to find out it is part of the adjuster which I broke also.
How do you work those release's on the headlight assemblies?
I am hoping the dealer will have the replacement clips!
I just went through this on my truck I took a set of needlenose pliers and pulled straight up with a hard yank then the bottom adjuster's i had to use a t-20 and unscrew it all the way out they are left handed threads clockwise will loosen the assembly and counter clock will bring them back in
Oops, I hope the dealer has replacement clips. Mine are both in pieces. I also need a new bottom adjustor. I tore the tabs off of mine getting it loose. I guess I shouldn't have been using a prybar, but after an hour I was pretty careless.
Now I just have to get the fender fixed since I went thru such a PITA to get it apart.
oh i hear ya man, i was started to get real pissed when it came to removing those damn lights, seems almost impossible and i was very tempted to just break them but i ended up finishing it up the next day by just taking the damn header panel off.
I'm removing my stock lights to upgrade to some projectors and am having the same trouble. I got the top 2 metal clips off by lifting straight up. Used a T20 to remove the adjustor bar.
I'm stuck at removing the vertical adjustor bar clip. It's the rectangular piece that has the adjustor bar running straight up and down. I got frustrated and hacked at it for a while with some wire clippers and now its whittled down to a little piece but I still cant get the hunk out. Any ideas? It just looks round on the back side, and I can't pry it any which way.
I ended up doing the same thing you did. Tried cutting it off with a pair of side cuts. I ended up making it small enough it would pop out. I was told I had to buy the whole light to get the adjuster, so I just put the light back in and then used a hose clamp to hold the stub of what was left from pulling thru.
Yeah its redneck, but it saved me a lot on a whole new light assy.
