If it were me ,they would be picking up the rig at my house ....Drop it off my A$$...
That's precisely what I would do... I 'd pull the pin, sell the load for enough fuel and food and bobtail my a$$ back across the river to the home front.
Lafayette, IN if a ride is needed, and I could probably go as far as Indy.
I don't think it would be right to sell the load or anything like that (two wrongs don't make a right), but I wouldn't feel any responsibility for it, either. I bet the other OTR drivers are helping the drivers hitchhike home.
Did they run only flatbeds? I remember meeting a trucker who spent the night at the same station I did a couple weeks back, he said his gas card didn't work and had to wait for them to open in the morning so he could pay cash. Definitely an O/O, black truck with no graphics, plain white dry van.

I would like to believe that age is less important than experience and miles driven accident free.
i would too Tim, but the facts of life are that the companys will hire a smith and solomon diploma holder over a man with 5 million accident free miles because the S&S graduate can be hired for $5-$6 per hour less.
