You will have to be more descriptive. Are there any upgrades, mods, etc on your truck? Is it coming from your engine compartment? Your exhaust perhaps? I have 4 in exhaust and I have a harmonic vibration tinny noise at idle. Give us more info and someone will figure it out. Welcome to FTE

How long has it been since you had your valve covers off and properly torqued everything under there?

OP, when did you change your fuel filter last? If the injectors aren't getting all the fuel they want, you'll get a distinctive "clink, clak" from them. Does the sound change any after the engine is up to operating temperature? X2 on the torque recommendation though.

David,

Welcome to FTE! We're a bunch of like-minded guys and gals that exchange information with each other to be able to best maintain and upgrade our engines and trucks with the best stuff, practices, and costs. We're glad to have you aboard.

Did changing that sensor fix the problem? If it did, what's the part number of that thing? Even if it didn't, what's the part number, so we know what they did.

Again, welcome to the party!

For those new to the diesel worl this is the best place I know of to start. More knowledge here than anywhere else I know of. I have been able to advise my mech budy who has been a auto mech since he was a teen, he is 50ish now, with the great info I get from this sight.
