Differential/Axel Splines

Is there a way to determine the spline count on my '98 4.0 4X4 W/O pulling an axle?

Your '98 4.0L came with an 8.8-inch, 28-spline axle from the factory.

The only other factory Ranger spline count is 31, which is found only on '02+ FX4 Level II models.

So my 94 2wd mazda b2300 has a 28 spline? Do you know if it has a 7.5 rear end or 8.8? I want to put a mini spool in it and i need to find ot what it has for a rear end.. Thanks for any info

Check for the tag on the differential bolt as well as the tag on the door. It should have a number for the diff.

Your '94 4-banger got the 7.5", 28 spline rear end from the factory.

As noted, if you check the axle tag, you can confirm the size and also the gear ratio.
