I got a 97 F250 and I was thinking about getting a DP chip. I got the the following code of my PCM:
DPC-202 NAW6
I have read that this is not a very good PCM and that there might be better stock options TDE0, or TDE1. What I find odd is that the truck is a 97 but the PCM says 1996. Any opinions on this?
Also if I order the DP chip can I request that the stock tuning be that of a TDE1, even though I have a NAW6.
You definitely can use one of the TDE programs as the starting point in your chip. That's what I did with my truck.
By the way, though your truck is a '97, it and many of the components might very well have been built in '96. After all, there are 2010 model cars available now, thought it's still 2009.
Thanks Quadzilla, I contacted Jody at DP tuning to see what he had to say. He also told me the TDE1 would work fine and from what I've read the truck will run better.
I went ahead and ordered my chip, I didn't get anything wild. I got stock and the 60hp econo. I haven't put it in yet. When it goes in, I'm also putting in my downpipe and 6637. I've been stockpiling parts and waiting on better weather. Holding off on gauges since I never tow anything and spend 99% of the time putting around town.
TDE1 would be the best base code for OBS.
One thing i would have jody do is take some time (seconds) if not
omit all of the TC no lock cold. I believe its set at 600 seconds.
