I appreciate everyones feedback and i wasn't ever gonna change the intake but my buddy and his wife just bought it for me for an early christmas present for helping hem out with their house and for working on his 05 silverado with dmax. I knew for a while that the stock system is the way to go and i just wanted to see real world numbers. I do apologize for posting this thread cause after i did #1 it should have gone in intake folder # 2 I couldve just searched it and read existing posts on matter. I didn't change it yet but what do i do, my buddy set me up one day at work askin me when i was gonna do an intake and told him never cause the stock one is all i'll ever need, (after he bought it). He shouldve just got me a case of beer and brought me to a go go bar. Ha ha

The following is from a Ford Tech Bulletin:

* Stops 99.99% of contaminants one micron or larger (human hair is
approximately 74 microns) and hold over 3 pounds before needing replacement
* Manufactured by Donaldson, using their patented PowerCore design
* Contains twice the amount of filter media versus conventional pleated filters

*Same filter technology as used in the M1 Abrams tank!

Maybe you can return and exchange it for something else.

I am on my 3 rd powerstroke (1, 7.3/ 2, 6.0).....I chose to put an a/m filter system on it because I had good success with reliability, maintenance and experience with them prior.
The 6.0 airbox was designed to "also" be a noise suppressant.......one thing I love is just the right sound that comes from my engines....it also includes induction noise.
Sounds juvenile I know.....but being an old hotrodder from way back is just in my character. It is satisfying when someone rides in my truck and they have a hard time believing how good a diesel can sound.
I have had critiscism delivered to me on this site because of my use of an a/m filter.
Well, fair enough....but I realize everyone has their opinions (and facts), but I feel I should be allowed to spend my money where and on what I want for my own reasons.
Happy I spent my cash on an Airaid.
Cheers. H56

With a 7.3 I would absolutely agree with you. However, everything with regard to the 6.0 suggests otherwise. From filtration to when it flows more air(not that it doesn't flow more air, but when it does flow more air). Now with regard to airflow that's actually using a/m companies own charts with regard to air flow from their intakes and the 6.0. They focus more on the fact that it flows more air, not when it flows more air.

Absolutely and if you are happy with that purchase, then great, however, don't translate into the fact that still it doesn't do much in the way of performance, both in terms of filtration and in terms of hp/tq output unless you go with bigger mods then just a tuner. More often then not, what I hear are the reasons for getting an a/m intake by about 90%(if not more) of the posters on here or who I meet on the street, want it for filtration and/or engine performance. It has been shown time and time again not to deliver on those with regard to the 6.0. Some of those are dyno charts from owners that have done extensive mods(even moreso then mine) and by the dyno charts from the builders of those intakes as well. Trust me, when you start talking about the amount of money that I spent making my truck break the 500hp mark and still be able to haul ~16k worth of horseflesh, a little $300 intake is nothing. It just doesn't work for performance and filtration(and that would actually cut into your reliability as well). Now you might have been lucky, sure enough, might never have a problem, congrats. you were lucky with playing russian roulette, more people then not aren't so lucky and they end up blaming the wrong thing.

If you got it because you want it, it looked cool, or you would to be able to re-use the filter, or you wanted more sound those are all valid reasons, rather or not they are the best of reasons, that's a different matter.
