I got a JWVB and it didn't come with any other plates or anything. I am not impressed with the way it shifts either. I didn't notice much of a difference. no tuner yet either, don't know if the shifts will change with the DP tuner.

Are you experiencing hard shifts? When did you get the VB?

I'm assuming your not getting the full effect of the VB without some good tunes. When if or decide to get some nice tunes, you will feel the full effects of your VB. DP Tuner, PHP, Tony Wildman, Swamps, ect just to name a few raise the line pressures in the trans to help also..My DP Tuner and J.Wood VB made great shifting for me.
My BTS made a huge difference without Jody's tuning.. and another big change in the truck once it was tuned by jody.
You should be able to see a diff.. perhaps you should go BTS
I'm starting to rethink my choice when I get a VB
But maybe things would be different if you dealt with John one on one.I personally want my trans set up where I can run it in stock or any other tune ad it be the same
My TransGo mod'ed VB was actually better in stock than it was with Jody's tunes. That was BEFORE I got them tweaked for the mod'ed VB. After, I was very satisfied. But it seems weird to me that JW is now including a plate when he didn't before. Something has changed it seems like...
EDIT: Ray --> Brian uses TG parts. I would think you are plenty skilled to mod your own.
Pete, are you running a stock tranny? Did you have a delayed reverse, and if so, did the JW improve the reverse response time?
It's factory as far as I know. I never really noticed a delay going into reverse but I take it nice and easy when I'm backing up so even if there was a delay I doubt I'd notice it.
Congrats on the JWVB Pete. Awesome write up. Jim (megawatt00) was telling me about the 'issues' you had, glad you got it all taken care of and glad you like it.

Issues can be translated as: Pete caused himself another headache cause of his stupidity by....

I don't know what to say about that. After my JWVB install, it was an immediate difference and improvement. And I did it before the DP Tuner. I can't help but wonder if something is amiss with yours then. In fact, most of the time I just run my tuner in the stock tune (#1) and I still love the way it shifts.
But mine didn't come with that extra plate like Pete posted. I don't know what's up with that. Maybe John has found a way to improve upon his VB even more. But I think it's left most of us that have his VB perplexed because there was nothing like that before.

I will call John tomorrow and see if I can't get a better explaination for you guys on the changes.
