I'm starting to rethink my choice when I get a VB
But maybe things would be different if you dealt with John one on one.I personally want my trans set up where I can run it in stock or any other tune ad it be the same
I was making a joke with that comment. I have a BTS VB and I love it. However, I still think John Woods is just as good as Brian. I was just talking some trash to Petey.
I will call John tomorrow and see if I can't get a better explaination for you guys on the changes.
Thanks Clay, just wondering if he's trying something else out. Its no big deal with me and I'm sure the other JW VB users, were just interested. As for my previous statement on the stock truck with a JW VB, you should feel a difference like the guys said, I run mine in stock and can feel the difference in shifts, I also have the DP but you should still feel it, Mike out.
Not sure how I missed this thread the first time around, I must have been busy on Friday. Glad to hear everyone liked the brownies. I'll try to convince the wife to make a bunch of batches to bring to RRE next year.
Not sure if I mis-worded something since I've received messages from a couple confused people. Everything on my truck has been working great for the past week I just don't know the deal with the JW/TG combo Clay is the guy to talk to on that one.
Well, I just ordered my JW VB today, Bet I was I first order of the year.............Hope this gets settled on what is what and who's using what now........confused? .me toooooooooooo. Will keep you posted on what get.
There is an article on John Wood in my new Feb 2010 issue of Diesel Power magazine stating that JW uses Transgo and Sonnax components in his transmissions to tailor them to his liking. In the article he is working on an E4OD, which uses the same type of accumulator VB as the 4R100 and he says he used the Transgo springs.
As with every product, they evolve as time goes by. That is what John has done with his VB's. Using plates and then modifing them to the way he wants is just the next step. He uses parts and pieces from different kits, only taking what he considers to be the best, along with custom machined parts that he does himself. By doing this he allows for the tuner to customize the shifting, and allowing a stock truck to enjoy the changes without the shifting being to hard.
