Congrats on the JWVB. I know I love the way mine shifts. Best shifting transmission I ever had, just fast and firm but not harsh. Doesn't bang in to gear like some shift kits I've felt.
So why the Transgo plate and the JWVB?

I thought JW used Sonnax Stuff. If he switched to TransGo, you might need a reburn anyway. I know with mine, I can boil the tires on 1-2 & 2-3. It's a great thing.

Another perplexed JW customer here, wondering about the Transgo plate.

I would think with the user adjustability of the separator plate and it's affect on shift pressure, would require a reburn if changed. Maybe if left alone, it wouldn't be necessary if the tuner makes any allowances for it. Are there any instructions with the VB than indicate any "user adjustablilty"?
I recently tweaked my shifts with changes to the separator plate holes when I did my recent trans service. Jody couldn't get my 3rd gear shift as firm as the others with the size I had when he lived tuned it. He said "You know what to do."

Very nice write up and photos.

One other thing to point out is the retained gasket from the old transmission filter that you have to remove, visible as the red rubber ring in your photo. Mine stuck as well. Not hard to remove, you just have to make sure you check it.

I noticed in the fifth photo down in the series above that the orange filter o-ring didn't come out with the filter:

You DID manually remove the o-ring, didn't you? It's very important that you get the old one out before re-installing a new filter.

Good eye! My filter kit instruction sheet reminds you to check for that. I usually remove the seal first thing after the filter is removed. 90% on the time it stays in the case when the filter is pulled.

John actually uses several different kits and throws away the excess. Since no one kit offers everything he wants. You don't need a reburn after it because John works closely with Jody so that it is very tuner friendly.
