Anybody running this black CPS in your truck - supposedly the black superceeding number for a 1821720c99.
The ford grey cps i think is responsible for about a 20% drop in fuel economy, a vibration above 1700 rpm, and an intemittent stumble off idle..... I'd like to switch to a black ih cps and see if it cures it.. this one worth buying?
I'm running the F4TZ12K073-C, which should be the same as this one. It is very dark grey (almost black) and is for the OBS trucks with the tin-plated contacts in the connector plug. My black CPS was working fine, but I was chasing an injector knock and tried this to see if it would help. Now the black one is my spare.
I did not see any difference between the old black CPS and this one.
I have not read the phantom code thread - I have no ses lights - just runs differently since I changed the cps due to an intermittent stall that developed.
I am running the black cps Part #1821720C99, I just happen to buy the last black one Sunstate International had in stock...This was quite a few months ago, and from what I have read, the black ones are next to impossible to get from International anymore.
The grey cps gave my truck an intermittent rough idle. It cleared right up when the black one went in.
I would say YES to tracking down a 1821720C99.
semi long term test report back on this cps - It has seemed to resolve my issues with the "new ford grey" cps's. I did find a u-joint causing part of my highway speed vibration( while feeling tight and not clunking at all, was watching the shaft and having a helper shift forward to reverse and saw a strangely quiet "twitch" on the rear yoke). It has about 10,000 miles with no known issues to report.
i am running the blue cps from diesel performance company off of the internet, could not find a black one, think the threads were backwords cuz broke mine off in the motor
