That said, I bought a BTS VB and after the diode locked up and it sat in a superheated bath of black fluid and debris, I got full credit, SIGHT UNSEEN when I went to the full BTS unit. After that, I had some other trans issue and he walked me thru removing the shifter while I was doing it. Then he squeezed me in for the Big Oil system and later on, the oil and trans fluid change till about 8pm+ that Fri night.
I went to his trans not because he was closer. I went with his trans because I knew I wanted to keep the truck and I knew I would abuse the trans. Definitely not as much as Dockboy or JTHARVEY or others that have taken advantage of the fact that he fixes it AFTER the warranty is up for the price of shipping. Actually, IIRC, JTHARVEY got that trans as a raffle prize. Another thing was that with the JW trans, I would have to pick the level I would run at and I never heard of him fixing it AFTER the 2 yrs or 3 yrs is up. Those facts made me decide to go with BTS. If JW had the same warranty an no levels, I would go with whichever is cheaper shipping wise.
