how much power can my 2000 4r100 handle?? like what are some number you guys are seeing with a stock tranny or stock with a valve body..
Do your self a favor and call John Wood early in the morning. Since he builds the trans himself he can be hard to get ahold of. There are a couple reasons you don't really want to just swap out the convertor. You really need pump mods as well on the 4R100. John can explain it way better, give him a call. The Towmaster is $3400 and shipping isn't as bad as you would think.
I just bought one from JW. It is the towmaster level. $3400 plus shipping andd tax. The total was $3915. Delivered. It does come with a, as he called it, billet torque converter. It is a converter out of a 6.0 gutted and redone with his custom parts as I understand. He rates them at 375 hp. 3years 50k warranty.
A couple years ago, I paid 3900 plus shipping. Mine is rated for whatever motor I choose. 2 yr warranty. He pays shipping at that time. After 2 yrs, you still get it fixed buy you pay shipping at his rate. Last trans I am paying for.
soo the towmaster is rated at 375 hp but with the mods i want to do i should be around 450 hp..soo i'm wondering how much the nest step up trans would be?? and what time does his shop open since i'm on the east coast idk what time he opens

I think you will be further with the BTS unit because you are not limited by the HP applications and you don't have to pay for the stages. Besides, when your trans breaks after 3 yrs, you only have to pay shipping. JW will have prices ranging from 4200 to 7200 depending on your power level. Most likely you will be in the 4200 range.
i was prob going to get a dp tuner and a BTS would be much easier cause its atleast in my timezone and is a little close still far away but closer then arizona..soo a BTS is only 4,000 with a converter??

For $4100 you get a trans that is ready to roll. Mine came in a trans case and I sent back the core. You still have to get fluid which is going to be pretty much on all transmissions. Whether you want to flush out the cooler or use a new cooler is probably up to you.
ok and did you notice a big difference with your BTS trans??
and there isnt a limit with it on HP?
There was a big difference between how it worked and the trans it replaced. More so at the last few days when the diode locked up and trashed the trans. An indication to me was that all things being equal, it ran cooler than the stock trans in 60HP Tow tune than the stock trans at stock tune. Others have reported that it puts more of the power to the ground but I have no dyno results of the "before and after".
The limit on HP is from your wallet. Fatter wallet, bigger limit. LOL
I drove to Lead Hill 8 years ago and had Brian do my tranny. Paid $2700 back then for it. My truck since then has gone from a mildly modified work/plow truck to a full out race truck. In that time, Brian has had the tranny back in his shop no less than 8 times either due to broken parts or upgrades requested by Brian himself. Besides paying for a new case and pump that a broken crankshaft destroyed and some shipping, I have not paid for (but like Mike always offered to) one broken part, upgrade, or labor!! Pretty good $2700 investment if you ask me!!
