I'm technically challenged (wife says "retarded" isn't politically correct anymore) and can not figure out how to adjust my out of whack fog light. does anyone have a pic of the adjustment mechanism and know what tool it requires. I just need to dial it down...get brights flashed at me all the time. thanks.
1) don't mind me...fog lights on all the time annoys me slightly... same with DRLs and headlights when they are unnecessary
2) looks to be a 5/16" socket... head is on the back, not the front.
Ah, with all the shrouding and the tire right there I couldn't get my fat head in to see the back side. Think I'll have my oil change guy do it when it's on his lift next time. Thanks.
I happen to have an extra '02 foglight in the garage because one of mine has one side of the hinge cracked. It's not bad, so I just haven't made it a priority to take the bumper off to change it.
My dad's F-450 isn't here right now, so I can't go see if the '08-'10's are designed the same way, but I suspect they are. I replaced both on my '05 Ex and they adjusted the same way as this '99-'04 does.
The screw just below the center of the picture is the adjustment screw. It has a phillips head, but the slots are completely set in so you can't see that from the sides. On the other side of the bracket, there is the spring mechanism and clip that you might be able to see from the front. I remember the '08-'10's are much tighter there since they moved the lights to the sides.
I forgot to try to see what size the adjustment screw is, so I went pulled it back out to check. That way you know what to be armed with. 5/16 seems to fit best, but is a little loose. For the little amount of torque required here, it should be fine. 9/32 is too small, as is 7mm, and 8mm is too big.
