Trans ID Help
Hello, I am in need of a trans for my 95 F150 with 4.9 and believe what I have to be is a E4OD trans but am not really sure. First thing is how do I identify if it is and then what other trucks will fit mine. Since it is christmas time will probably have to go with used one and what to be educated what to look for before I buy the wrong tranny.

I don't know that it would be hard to find one, most later model trucks were automatic and most of those were E4OD. I plan to buy a rebuilt one from Monster when I finally need to do something about mine. Currently, it has 190,000 on it and it's not a daily driver. The rebuild quotes I have received are around $1,200 and a rebuild from Monster is in the same ballpark. The Monster transmission is significantly upgraded in terms of strength as opposed to a standard rebuild, plus, I can just swap transmissions when it arrives and return my core later, reducing downtime. The latter is not really a big deal to me, but the strength is.
Buying a used transmission is too risky for me -- I don't go to casinos for the same reason. I always lose.
