I have gone to the faq section but do not see the trans code for this truck. This truck is a 92 mod. with the letter T in the code section of the drivers door.
the trouble that my son is having is that he is loseing trans fluid, so first thing I thought of was modulator, but i do not see one on it.
this trans has fourteen bolt patern with the word Metric on the oil pan. The truck has lost reverse and is in need of work or replacement, but I need to know what it is thanks JNT.
If the OPs truck has a 5.8L engine then it should be an E4OD. The 5.0 and I6 came both ways, AOD or E4OD. This might help from Baumann Electronic Controls:
The E4OD four speed automatic transmission is used in F and E series trucks, as well as AOD and AOD-E/4R70W four speed automatic transmissions. To determine which is used in your vehicle, follow these guidelines:
* If the shifter has a P-R-N-OD-D-1 pattern, the transmission must be an AOD (applicable to 1980-1993 vehicles).
* If a 1989-1993 truck has an Overdrive Cancel Switch and a P-R-N-OD-2-1 shifter pattern, then it is equipped with an E4OD transmission. With the possible exception of some 4R70W equipped 1993 E-150 vans with 5.0L SFI engines (The existence of a 1993 4R70W van is unsubstantiated).

The truck has a T code on the door jam, when my son gets here I will look to see if it has a cancellation button on the shifter or what pattern the indicator is.
hmm.. My 95 F-150, 5.0 2wd has a pan shape like the AODE. It has the OD cancel button, and for years assumed it was an E4OD for that reason. Tonight, I was having a look at the radius arm bushings (popping and groaning when turning) and noticed the pan shape. I had seen this thread before and noted the pictures of pan shapes below, so I paid special attention to the pan when I was under there. I bought the truck new but lost track of it for a number of years before buying it a second time. I'm certian the transmission is original (perhaps rebuilt while the second owner had it) due to a mark I made on the bellhousing in 1998.
thank you for sharing, as you noticed we have two pans at fourteen bolts though one has two bolts fairly close together, the later being the one he has in his truck, today he picked up another trans and this one has the OD cancel button on the end of the selector. I will pull the harness and the column to make it all uniform. If any one has other suggestions or has done this swap in the past please advise us on the do and do not's. thank you JNT

The trans is an AODE acording to the bolt patern and it has the first patern on the shift indicator, The replacement trans he has is the E4OD he has a 5.0 in the truck my next question is on the transplant and just what i will need to do to to get it to work.
Can anyone tell me if I will need the pcm, or harness from the truck? the replacement transmition is the E40D the old is the AODE, if you can please give what ever information you can. Thank you JNT.
