2wd vs 4wd headers

I can get some stainless FE 2wd headers for cheap. But my truck is a 79 F150 4wd, 428FE.

Has anyone ever attempted to fit the 2wd headers on a 4wd. Im pretty sure they will hit the drive shaft or the T case will be in the way.

Does anyone have any input on this?????

Not sure on the 2WD to 4WD, but 4WD headers WILL NOT work on a 2WD.

But that is in reference to Dynomax and Hedmans. Not sure about Hookers, Thorley's or any other breed like that.

Thats the thing these are OBX headers each brand varies for fitment. I have a 4 inch lift in the front so I do have more drive shaft clearance than a stock 4wd.

The frames are similar with the 4wd actually having no crossmenber under the motor.

I can imagine that they would quite possibly clear Im just looking for any ideas and real life situations.

I would think the 2WD header would be pointed straight at the transfer case. It's a tight clearance with the C6, with just 1/2" space between the collector and the shift arm.

Thats what I was thinking and then I would have to prababley run a exhaust tube under the trans to connect to the passenger side.

I just got done looking things over and theres not much play room, so I cant imagine fitting a preformed header that's not meant to fit.

Summit sent me 2WD headers for my 4x4 TWICE. Didn't work either time.

I dont if u want stainless there used mostly for show cars. Ive heard that L&L sells some nickle plated headers u should check them out.
