Front end identification.

I have a 1996 f 250 4wd and i was woundering how i know what front end i have.

WELCOME TO FTE! I am not sure what you mean, "What front end do I have"? Are you asking for the gear ratio? 410 or 373? If your RPM gauge is @ 1900 @ 70mph you have a 373. If @ 70mph your tach reads 2400, you have 410's.

I would GUESS you have a Dana but let someone else help you to determine b/c I am not sure how to tell.

Maybe a Dana 44 or 50. You should have a tag on one of the dif cover bolts. Those numbers will tell you. I don't know how to read them but if you post them someone will translate, I am sure

If you have the stock front axle, you probably have the Dana 50. Check out post #6 in the link below:

If yours looks like that it's a Dana 50. Dana 44 look very similar but were not use in F250's with the 7.3.

Dana 50 is twin beam, Dana 44 is twin beam in 1/2 ton trucks. Dana 60 is solid axle.
there will be a 50 cast in to the rear side of the differential if it is a 50. or a 44 cast if it is a 44

The gasser F250's could have a Dana 44 (Not 40) but no diesels ever got the Dana 44. It is a D50.
