lock nut spanner ??

Hello,
I'm going to be doing my balljoints this upcoming week. I'm trying to gather all i need now and am having trouble finding out what size locknut spanner tool i'd need?
My truck is a 96 ford f250 4x4 , manual lock-outs, auto, 7.9l
I've also got on my list a snap ring pliers ,pickle fork, 1 5/16" wrench. Anything else you can think I'll need?
Thanks alot!

BEER!!!

But serously,

Spanner socket will depend on if you have the dana 44 or dana 50 front axle.
-allen key set
-phillips screwdriver #2
-small picks (2) for removing outer hub ring
-chunk of 4x4 wood
-bfh for removing spindle
-mapp gas torch will help loosen parts ALOT

Yup, beer is on my list! Whats the chunk of 4x4 for?
I think i have a dana 50, 50 stamped on yoke. so what size spanner?
Thanks for the tips. I really need to get this done, my truck doesn't want drive in a straight line! Either right or left! wheels are tipped in like a sonofabitch! Could there be other damage from letting this go for so long besides the balljoints?
thanks

If youve got the the 50 i think things are different between the auto hub versions and the manual hub versions. Not sure though, Ive only had a d50 apart twice. Not sure what kind of socket your going to need, it will either be a 6 post round or 6 sided nut socket. gonna have to pull it apart and see.

And the chunk of 4x4 is to hold on the end of the spindle so you can whack it with the bfh to pop the spindle off and not damage the threads. I suppose a 2x4 would work just as well. only other damage might be bearings, but most likely it will just be bad wear pattern on your tires

taking spindle off??

Alright, got the hub and rotor off, took the 5 nuts off around the dust shield. Now i've tried tapping on the spindle end with wood mallet, it goes in about a inch then pops back out, how does this spindle come off? Do i need to take the nut off the upper bj, lower bj, tie rod?

No, once you take the nuts off and get the spindle free, it will just pull off. but getting it free can be a major pain in the ***
